About Kristen

Hello!  My name is Kristen Harper.  I feel so loved as a Christian, a wife, a mom, and now an author.  I have “graduated” from homeschooling and retired from teaching Sunday School, so now I have the opportunity to serve in Women’s Ministry.

I sat down to write my first 50,000-word book of fiction, Elephant in the Room, in November 2015 during National Novel Writing Month.  I enjoyed the discipline and creative process immensely, so I wrote a few more books over the next few years.  I first chose to write about gluttony, the sin of eating too much and eating for the wrong reasons, after studying the Bible for myself and discipling others on this challenging issue.  I believe that God’s Holy Word sufficiently addresses every issue of life, including gluttony, and offers victory over sin.  My novels always present the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to my readers.

If people who struggle with bad eating habits read my book, “Elephant in the Room,” they will find hope and wisdom from the Bible to change their unhealthy attitude about food, to take practical steps to defeat gluttony, and to find love and satisfaction through God’s gift of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ.

On my website I share helpful material to encourage you to study and apply God’s Word to your life.  A set of Book Club Discussion Questions is included in the back of the printed copies of “Elephant in the Room,” and is available HERE on my website, as well as my Let’s Talk Bible Study, a personal Bible study with 26 questions – one for each chapter of the book – to help you study what the Bible says about food and eating.

When the world was isolated in the Spring of 2020, I decided to release my second Christian fiction novel, “Always a Bridesmaid,” as a Seclusion Serial, posting one chapter each weekday along with some Book Club Discussion Questions and Bible Study Notes.  What a blessing it was to connect with readers during this unusual time in history!  The full novel, Bible Study, and Book Club Discussion Questions are still available for free HERE.

I live in Southern California with my husband Ross, and we have two adult daughters.  Ross is a professional musician, playing steel drums for local events, occasional movies and CDs.  He has produced outstanding Bible music for children available on his website 2GBGmusic.com.  Our family attends and serves at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California.
