In Chapter 4 of “Elephant in the Room,” Leonard reminds Beverly that they have a resource to help them address their problem. That resource of wisdom is the Bible.
#3 – Sufficiency of Scripture
- Do you believe that the Bible is sufficient to address every issue of life? If you’re not sure, please read and consider 2 Peter 1:2-3 and 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
- How has God’s wisdom in the Bible helped you to deal with a difficult situation in your life?
- If you don’t know how to find wisdom from the Bible, who can you ask for help?
Do you think the Bible addresses the problem of gluttony – eating too much food and eating for the wrong reasons? I do, and so I wrote about it in my Christian fiction novel, “Elephant in the Room.” The Bible identifies gluttony as a sin. The Bible explains God’s justice to punish sin, and His mercy to mete out that justice on His Son, Jesus Christ, who bears God’s wrath on behalf of all believers. Then the Bible teaches how we can live abundantly by putting off the sin of gluttony and putting on righteousness instead – things like contentment and self-control.
I want to encourage you to read and study your Bible because it reveals God’s glory as well as His wisdom. Please share your answers to the Book Club Discussion Question #3 along with your favorite Bible verses to encourage others about the sufficiency of God’s Word.
